Are you interested in the history of the Dacicky House or its fundamental transformation into a modern educational centre? We will acquaint you with a project which was financed by means of the European Union and which the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, in the closing report for UNESCO, described as “act of the year 2015”.
We do not know when exactly the Dacicky House was built. The core of the corner house No. 41 is constituted by a chamber with cellars below, which was - most likely as the only remainder of the pre-Hussite house - integrated into the grandiose Gothic re-construction of the building.

The personality of Mikulas Dacicky of Heslov (23 December 1555 – 26 September 1626) evokes mixed reactions. This Renaissance nobleman lived a tumultuous life and was several times imprisoned. Notwithstanding, he continued work on his family chronicle and provided it with his characteristic style. The life of this chronicler, writer, poet, drunkard and rambler inspired many other artists.

Rooms for rent on the first floor, bookbindery workshop on the ground floor – this was the prevailing usage of the House in the second half of the 20th century. Although in 1958 the Dacicky House was declared a real-estate cultural monument, it was not cared for according to its significant historical value.

The House is managed by the “Foundation Kutna Hora – UNESCO Monument”, which was established with the aim to present the historic core of Kutna Hora, support its preservation and fulfilment of the obligations ensuing from the fact that the town was declared a monument inscribed on the list of the UNESCO world cultural and natural heritage.

The Dacicky House offers two halls with the most advanced audio-visual technologies for rent – the Conference Hall on the first floor seating 55 persons and a smaller hall in the attic seating 25 persons. Disabled persons can access both the halls by means of a personal elevator. The halls offer all and any services and equipment.

The entrance fee for individuals and large groups is differentiated as specified on this page. On request we can also secure guided tours of the House in a foreign language. You can visit the Dacicky House throughout the opening hours – to enjoy the tour better, it is advisable to book a tour with us.

Documenting monuments and archiving the documentation created in the course of monument restoration carried out by other subjects belongs among the basic professional activities of the Dacicky House Centre. The “Foundation Kutna Hora – UNESCO Monument” as manager of the Dacicky House closely co-operates with two partners above all: firstly the Town of Kutna Hora, the Foundation establisher and beneficiary of the grant on restoration and furnishing the Dacicky House centre; secondly the University of Pardubice, which organizes a great number of specialist educational activities in the House every year.
